2008 Telus Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Championships, Sun Peaks, BC, Canada 10-13 Mar 08
Day 1
Telus Canadian GS Para-Alpine Ski Championships (10 March)
Russell Docker crowned Telus Canadian National Champion in Mondays GS race

In an exemplary performance GB did it again this time clocking up 1, 2, 3, & 4 in the mens GS sitting category. It was Docker's turn to reap the benefit of gold with Tim Farr picking up the silver and Sean Rose having to satisfy himself with the Bronze following a mistake in his second run loosing valuable time. Talan Skeels-Piggins was not going to let the Canadian's get any closer to his team mates and secured the 4th place.
A further brilliant showing from the strong British male sit ski crew.
Weather conditions had been particularly challenging with the race start being delayed until midday due to unusual heavy snow falls. It continued to snow heavily throughout but the British squad who have been over in Canada training and racing for 3 week so far were up to anything thrown at them.
In the ladies, Joe Willoughby produced a further consitent run in the ladies sit category coming 2nd. The important point of note being the reduction in her split times over her Canadian rival. Anna Turney new to the race scene this season managed to claim 3rd with Jane Sowerby suffering with the conditions to ultimately get a DSQ.
The site of the eleven strong management and athlete team in the start box in their new team colours was a site to behold and carrying such a positive attitude r from Kimberley certainly appeared to intimidate the oposition - the chant of 633 squadron could be heard as the team focused on their plan of attack and not even the conditions could disrupt them.
Congratulations to Russell Docker who now claims the Canadian National Champion to his successful Alpine career.
Day 2
Telus IPC NorAm GS (11 March)
Rose delivers Gold
It was Rose's turn to take the podium with a gold in the NorAm races on a slightly overcast day but without the heavy conditions suffered earlier in the week. As previously, all British runners remained in close contention for both runs with Docker cranking up the speed in the lower sections to overdo it and miss one of the last gates to record a DNF. The other team members rallied to the cause with Tim Farr, after a poor second start flying down the course to get his second podium with 3rd. Talan Skeels-Piggins always in contention, couldn't quite make up the gap he had left himself after the first run but still finished a well deserved 4th.
The ladies have continued to perform in what is a slightly smaller field but Willoughby pulled off a further 2nd with Jane Sowerby regaining some confidence from earlier in the wek to pull in a well deserved 3rd with Anna Turney having to satisfy herself with a 4th.
Day 3
Telus Canadian GS Para-Alpine Ski Championships (10 March)
Rose and Willoughby claim titles
of Telus Canadian National Champions in Slalom
Continuing their successes of the week, Day 3 saw the first of the Slalom races. Both the mens and womens sit ski category saw a Brit coming out on top allowing two further titles of Telus Canadian National Champion, this time in slalom, to be added to that achieved by Docker earlier in the week. Not renowned as Russell's stongest discipline he recorded a DNF. However, Tim Farr joined Sean Rose on winners podium with a convincing 3rd with Talan Skeels-Piggins achieving 5th.
In the ladies race, after a number of silver positions Joe Willoughby (above) got that elusive and well deserved gold over her Canadian rival Kimberly Joines. Jane Sowerby building on her podium the day before also shone with a further 3rd.

The final day of races on Thursday provide a further opportunity for the GB team to wrap up their most successful tour of a selection of Canadian races ever.
